The Essex and Kent Scottish
Since there are no posts here as yet, I thought I would share with you all this Cadet Battle Dress Tunic. Unfortunately my notes on this tunic are missing at the moment, they are in the breast pocket.
IIRC this tunic is dated 1955. The RCAC patch is of the 1943 pattern. Green letters on a melton cloth with 13 points to the Maple Leaf. The Essex Scottish and the Kent Regiment amalgamated in 1954, to form the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment.

I wore that uniform when in Army cadets at Kennedy Collegiate High School in Windsor Ontario in 1962/63. Back then you had to be in the army cadets unless you had a special excuse.
We wore the Battle dress tunic that you have pictured with Battle dress trousers and had to wear our own black shoes. We wore the Diced Glengarry, with E & K cap badge. Only the cadet officers wore kilt. Our drum and Bugle band wore the scarlet Kent Regiment Tunics and Kent Regiment trousers. Cant remember whether blue or black. The band also wore the white pith helmet with red pugaree and brass spike. I have often thought perhaps Cadets should be again brought into the schools |

I did the same over at Walkerville - 1086 RCAC - in the same time period. Good to see the tunic and bring back the memory.
cheers, phil
