XIII Hussars
I have the attached 13th Hussars badge. Can anyone please explain the significance of the 8 pointed star behind the badge to me? Very much appreciated.

I have seen that, or similar, on older Police Badges. I can't properly recall the name but "Edward Star" seems to come to mind, as opposed the "Bath Star". But then again I could be just having a senior moment.

Then it hit (I need hitting sometimes to get going), it is the same design as the star behind Senior Officers Police Badges. I attach one for example.

Photo of back added. It looks much like the standard Collar Badges, except for the added star. What I don't know is the significance of that star.

Possibly the star is from the later issue Cheshire Regiment cap badge?
