One for the Cadet collectors
Here's a nice collection of some early (and current) Australian Army Cadet badges and buttons.
Enjoy! Mick

Mick,
A nice bunch of Cadet badges. The British Royal Artillery had a CADET versiuon of the standard Field Gun cap badge (much reproduced unfortunately). Did the Australians have their own badge? regards

Hi Simon,
Most cadet units had their own badge otherwise they were the standard Army Cadets badge. Mick

Hi Simon,
I don't think artillery cadets have ever existed in Australia. I could be wrong but have never heard or read about them in Australia. Mick

"The Advertiser" (Adelaide, S.A.), on 24 Feb. 1949, reported..... "ARTILLERY TRAINING FOR CADETS: For the first time in South Australia and probably in Australia, school cadets were to be formed into artillery units for which they would be specially trained, an Army spokesman said at Keswick Barracks yesterday........................it was hoped............on completion of schooling............cadets would join 13th Field Regiment, CMF................" I should not be surprised, either, to find that in the early days the ranks of the Artillery included some Senior Cadets. I Man |

Here is another to go with them. This one has a swan on it. I have a distinct weakness for badges with swans on them! I Man Last edited by Donny B.; 18-02-14 at 01:11 PM. |
