Again, whilst I am not very familiar with these badges, neither look good to my eye.

What is it, in particular, that does not look good to your eye?

The footed lugs and poor detail, particularly apparent to the reverses, particularly on the KC badge.
Rough imperfectly formed saltire. But then again, I am well aware that original badges were not always well made either. CB

Discussing the badge on the left, I can see it is not pierced (non-voided) between the leaves and quoit, nor pierced between the scrolls. That would lead me to the conclusion that this badge is the 'small' w/m badge at 44.5mm high.
I thought initially that these badges were collars, but later learnt that only g/m collars were worn. If I am correct in my assumption, then at 44.5mm it is smaller than the ubiquitous voided w/m and g/m fakes (which also have die flaws on the two T's in SCOTT ISH). I cannot say if this non-voided die has been faked or not, but it certainly isn't the larger fake seen every day on ebay. Mark Last edited by dubaiguy; 08-03-21 at 06:48 PM. |
