Default Bulbasket survivor SAS insignias

To continue on the same theme, I present you insignias that had been offered to me. Probably a day when I could have kissed the postman!
I had been lucky to meet John FIELDING in VERRIERES for a ceremony in the last 90's. He was a former SAS trooper from A Troop, B Squadron, 1st SAS Regiment, and was one of the very lucky survivors of the Bulbasket operation (his story is well written in Paul McCue's book), a very nice and humble man.
I wrote him many times when I was teenager; I was so pride to know a legend!
One day, I received a letter thicker than usually, and when I opened it, I discovered these insignias, a pair of 1st SAS titles and SAS wings (late model, from 1944-45), all sewn off from his own battle dress! I was so happy and surprised that I was literally trembling! I am sure you can understand...
Thank you very much sir.
Here they are:

The SAS wings are not the one worn on this photo of John.

I am still looking for genuine SAS and parachute regiment/glider insignias.

Thank you for that,

At one time I did own a Wilkinson First Pattern F-S Fighting Knife that belonged to John Fielding, one of the very few to make it out alive.

I would be happy to share a picture if anyone is interested but don't want to offend any members with a knife image. But will post if anyone wishes to see?

Roy.

Hello Roy

I would be extremely surprised if anyone on this Forum would be offended by a knife image that adds another piece to this fantastic story. But of course I appreciate you are a lot more knowledgeable about such matters than me. It would be good to see the image for sure though if there are no objections from anyone.

Mike
