Default Look at these badge lugs!

Hello all,

Is anyone familiar with this, I have to say, very sturdy form of headdress badge lug? Does it tell me anything about age or maker?

Cheers aye

They are stamped brass lugs found on many Scottish badges. In some instances they’re nickel plated and the badges themselves magnetic.

I have examples of the following with similar brass stamped loops…

Royal Scots
Black Watch
Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
Seaforth Highlanders
Highland Light Infantry
Cameronians
Seaforth Highlanders
Gordon Highlanders
Kings Own Scottish Borderers

I’m yet to find a Cameron Highlanders with them but given the above I don’t rule it out.

A recent discussion on the topic can be found here: https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=87992

Simply I think they’re just by a certain (British) manufacturer, likely wartime, for ease and speed of manufacture. But I’m sure you’ll get a reply saying it’s Canadian…

I've recently seen a KC brass Royal Marines badge with this type of lug.

Have seen stamped lugs like this on post-WW2 NZ badges. Maybe stronger than the copper loops and less fiddly to make?
