Default Gaunt.London and Firmin.London Police Cap badges

Good Afternoon,
I came across these two Police badges yesterday. The Nottinghamshire Combined Constab. has the Gaunt dot London makers mark on the slider, while the Gwent Constab. has Firmin dot London on it's slider.
I haven't seen the Gaunt mark on a police badge before, and I have never seen Firmin dot London on a slider at all, so I presume that the Firmin mark is fake also.

Hi Billy,i dont know about Police badges.
The Firmin.London mark is the same thats found on military badges. From that id say that badge is fine.

The Gaunt mark doesnt match any mark ive seen on a military badge.

Hello Mike,
The Gaunt dot London mark is fake, The mark should read J.R.Gaunt London, with no dot between Gaunt and London. The Firmin mark I found suspicious because I have never seen a dot after the Firmin name and before London. I can't even find that mark in the makers marks section on this site. Can you show a badge that matches the mark shown?

Billy,

Both badges are fine. Nothing wrong with either.

Dave.

Ok. I stand corrected. Just re read the Gaunt thread for dot London. It appears that the dot London mark is ok depending on year of manufacture and length of the makers mark (got a headache now) As for the Firmin mark, I'll go along with your experience on that.
Thanks
Billyh

Historically the Metropolitan police generally had badges supplied by Firmin (I mean certainley in modern times 1990 onwards) they came in the typical Firmin bags we know and love. They also supplied ID card holders (not necessarily warrant card holders, but probably) lanyards and other ancillary insignia items.

Not sure if that adds anythjng apart from I can confirm the Firmin marked badges are likely fine. Cant see anyone faking a modern police badge really

Unfortunately, they do fake them.
