Parramatta Marist
Good afternoon,
I have found this shoulder title. There is a Parramatta Marist High School near Sydney. Could it be for cadets ? Laurent |

For some reason I can't access the Parramatta Marist Old Boys Union site which seems to have lots of info about cadets but did find a photo from 1969.

Definitely an Australian Cadet title. There were, and still are, dozens of different public and private school Cadet corps doing back to the 19th century, and hundreds of badges and titles. There is not much documentation and they are very difficult to research. I have been trying for years to convince a friend who collects them to write a book.
Many corps were disbanded around 1975 when the Whitlam Labor government stopped funding them because of anti-war political correctness after Vietnam. Wealthier private schools were better able to continue. I was awarded an unofficial Cadet centenary medal by Barker College in Sydney for helping them with their commemoration. They made replicas of every uniform worn from 1900 to 2000 and I happened to have the oldest example, worn in the early 1930s. |

Parramatta Marist
Hi Laurent,
This is likely the last title used by the unit. And I’m currently writing a book on the subject (in fact 2, one for cadet metal insignia, and a second on cloth)...so if anyone has any other cadet insignia, I’d really appreciate some photos (I’m taking out the backgrounds and using them like that). And one of you mentioned you know someone with cadet insignia - be great if you could put them onto me (I have 600-700 hat and collars, over 200 titles, unit puggarees, flags etc but there a lot more out there!). Regards, Mije |

Hi Mije,
What timeline are you planning to cover for both the metal insignia and cloth insignia cadet books ? Cheers, Invest
