Default Most unusual Commonwealth War Grave Noyelles-sur-Mer

During the summer holidays in the north of France we stumbled upon a roadsign leading to a Chinese cemetary. It immediately caught our interest and we decided to visit.

It turned out to be a Commonwealth War Grave; the final resting place for 842 Chinese civilians who worked on French farms during the Great War. Out of around 150000 workers, an estimated 2000-10000 did not survive the war many of them as a result of the Spanish Flue. It is an absolutely beautiful site. May they rest in peace.

I suspect I may get a slap and sent to the naughty step as a consequence of this.

But a fraction only of the number they have killed World wide as a result of Covid.

Regards.

Thanks for posting .

Within the cemetery will be found the Noyelles-sur-Mer Chinese Memorial, which commemorates 39 men of the Chinese Labour Corps who died on land or at sea and whose graves are not known.
It wasn't only the English who ended up in "some corner of a foreign field".

"WE WILL REMEMBER THEM"
