Default 1950's SAS Titles Justifying my mistake

Hi Team

I posted today for justification of my mistake!!

Whenever I look at buying I always look at the forum for posts concerning the item then descide to buy or not.

I reversed my logic and found out that when looking for 1950's-1961 SAS post war cloth titles , there shoud be a wider seperation between the words.

Well my only justfication , which is weak and tenuous at best and if I could add anymore descriptive terms I would.

Here follows my justification:

On physical inspection these seem to have been sewn on to something,as they have stitch holes around both tiltles, also there are maroon stitch threads on both titles.

Now one could say, used by WWII SAS reinactors (although maroon stitch threads? 5 to be prescise)or someone faking it so some @#$ss%collector would buy it-not naming names.

Anyhoo thought I would run this mistake across the forum for righteous condemnation and shaking of the head!!

And the hope there could be some possibilty they could of been legitimately used?

Phill

Hi Team

I thought Id bring this back up as 190 views , I thought some one would say reproduction.

I would also add the following observations:

added image showing the curviture so it appears to have been sewn to a jacket (reinactor?).

I did black light test and it does not glow.

Also on the back of the black cloth it has adhesive thruought in verticle strands if that makes sense ie its not brushed across.

The black cloth is the same as other 1950's cloth patches as the Combined Ops post war issue shown.

Anyway this is one of those titles that screams of a repro but maybe, could be legit?

All opinons welcomed

cheers

Phill

Hi Team

Over 500 views and no one has said good bad or ugly.

Should I consign this to the reproduction box?

cheers

IMO both are good examples of original titles. Not a pair of course.
I’d be happy with them.

Thanks Jon

I appreciate the confirmation.

I did come across your album and noted several smaller space titles but the lettering looked better than my ones especially the S and C.

Again appreciate the reply and I can now add these to my collection, 1954-1961 SAS titles.

cheers

Phill

Default No worries mate

Glad to have helped.
I’m not as often in here as I was once I’m afraid.
If you’re on Facebook the forum has a page there also, which I find captures members sometimes quicker.
Certainly those who haven’t yet retired ;-)

Thanks again Jon

Here are 2 more titles I picked up down here, with the wider spacing.

Whats your opinion on these.

Default 1950's SAS Titles

Attached are front and back images of a bunch of post war SAS titles I have had for about thirty years. They came together from a military tailors that was closing down. Sadly they didn't have anything at all from the WW2 period.

Bearing in mind where they came from I'm sure they are original. As I don't collect post war I will be moving them on as they don't fit in with my area of collecting.
