226 Overseas Inf Bn - Cap or Collar & New Makers Mark example
Gentlemen,
may I pick the brains of the CEF collectors? Picked this little gem up this week and have a few questions. It has blades, or did have, alas one has gone adrift! Measures 30mm (E-W), 35mm (N-S) and has a bronze finish, which appears to have a "Silver?" wash as well? It has the Makers Mark of what I am fairly certain is "DINGWALL" (I am more than happy for the image to be used in the MM section - Mike).. and possibly WINNIPEG? But full detail of both marks is obscured by the fittings/braze. My Questions are: a) Is it a Cap or Collar? b) Is it scarce? c) Is the Bronze/silver wash a common finish on CEF officers badges? d) Approx value, with and without it's blades? Thanks in advance! Hi Andy, it's a collar. I call those sort of fasteners, fold over tang fasteners They quite often break off. Dingwall was a manufacturer in Winnipeg. I can't say for certain if it's officers I would think just an Or's. Value 20-25 cdn I would say...
