The only thing I can find is this extract from an article By Ray Westlake in The Military Historical Society Bulletin of August 2013 " Notes Concerning the Formation and Organisation of Corps Taken from The Volunteer Training Corps Gazette" issues 6-9 9th-30th January 1915.

Huddersfield DVC
Here are a couple of pictures of badges, one (KK1688) to the West Riding Volunteers and the second (KK1689) to the Huddersfield District Volunteer Corps.
I've not seen a ST for the HDVC, but the WRV titles were a one-iece title of a number over a curved 'WRV'. Hope this helps; Tim |

Hi Tim
Do you think this may be one? A Dark maroon tread embroidered into a grey/blue felt. I've had no luck. It's been suggested that it is a Cadets ST. regards Darrell

Darrell.
the Huddersfield title appears to be in WVS colours and may therefore be a district sign for the Women's Voluntary Service. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ctureid=131576 Simon. Last edited by High Wood; 08-03-18 at 09:20 AM. |

Hi Simon
Ah, the myriad of Home Front organizations! I hadn't thought of WVS and certainly didn't know that they had a re-occurring colour theme in their titles. Mind you, British badges in general are far from my usual. Thanks very much and would agree with what you suggest. regards Darrell

I can't tell you a lot about their badges, but local newspapers for the area would have carried regular "Volunteer Notes", as to what was going on with the Huddersfield Volunteers, whom as you will already know became the 9th Bn,West Riding Volunteer Regt(formed 11/7/16), becoming the 2nd Volunter Bn,The Duke of Wellingtons(West Riding Regt)in July 1918.
