RM Officer commanding Norwegian unit in/near Liverpool
Does anyone know of a Norwegian unit based in or near Liverpool, prior to 1952 and possibly WWII era - that was commanded by an RM officer? I ask because I have a KC Bronze, two piece RM officers cap badge attached to a letter (old thin pink 'message slip' type paper) which looks genuine and is from a father to son quoting the badge to be from commanding officer of the Norwegian unit in Liverpool (no date on the letter unfortunately) - Thanks, Ray

Ray,
As you know I do not have an answer to your query ,but in The Formation Sign issue 225 Jan-March 2007 there is an article on insignia on a battledress blouse which has both the Royal Artillery shoulder title and Liverpool Rifles ( 635th Regt.R.A. ) arm badge as well as the printed sign of British Troops in Norway- said to date from the units time in Norway in 1945. It seems therefore that there may have been some connection between the Liverpool Area and operations in Norway at the end of WW2. I wonder if anyone has any more information about this possible connection ? P.B.

I think I may have been on the wrong track on my last post, after a little more research it appears that the nucleus of British Troops in Norway was formed from the 50th ( Northumbrian ) Division.
