We always called the soft jungle hat issued in the 50s and 60s Hats Daft , no matter what the catalogue nomenclature was everyone knew what they were. Pedantry is in fact a nuisance , surely the object of posts is to communicate not pass A levels.

Default Proper Names

I love it when someone interjects into a discussion days after it was over. Just to reconfirm my point, is the 'collecting community' so full of sheep that certain people will jump on any trendy name, even when it is wrong, just to sound cool? Apparently yes! Pedantry may be a nuisance but ignorance is a curse. 'Boonie badges' is a bastard name that someone made up, pure and simple. To prove this I attached in a previous post documentation to show that the term 'boonie' has no association with Canadian Combat Cap Badges.

When I go to get my car repaired at the garage, I use the name of the parts required when talking to the mechanic. If I were to use the twisted logic of some collectors, then apparently we can call things whatever we want as long as we are having fun. To test this, I will see what sort of reaction the mechanic gives me the next time I take the car in for a 'flushing of the fluids' as I would not want to be pedantic and ask for an oil change!

Everything has a name, broaden your knowledge a little and start to use those proper names.

I don't have time to look it up right now, but Ed will know - are these badges properly arranged in Order of Precedence? You may owe the forum an apology.

If we are going to make snide comments, please pretend to have some English Language skills:
"its" should be "it's"
Comma after Ed
"any thing" is one word, "anything"
What is a "tele"?

Couldn't resist the cheap entertainment.

The post '53 gallery does not have a full record of these badges. Perhaps, if you have the time, do an individual scan or photo of each badge so that they can be posted in the gallery.

Ed,

The tone you started with and have continued with is not only insulting it is embarrassing. I wore a combat cap that we often referred to as a boonie cap. Right or wrong it is a term we used.

I have tried to write a positive post only to erase it many many times.

Hopefully the link below to my A&SH of C works.

Default Canadian Post 53 Gallery

If you look in the upper right corner of any page, you will see a box called "Current Projects". the Post 53 "link" is in that box. "Click" on it, select the unit and the badges we have will be displayed.

Bill!!! If people do post individual images - how do we "grab" the images????
