Napoleonic French badge? 13th regt?
Dear all,
I am new to this forum and have just joined in the hope that someone can help me identify this badge in the photo? I found it in Minorca on the site of the battle of Minorca, 1756 and also later the siege of Minorca, 1781. It looks French to me but I’m no expert on French badges (or any badges for that matter!) I am assuming this as it was found in the area of one of the French encampments. I would be grateful if any help identifying it. Many thanks! Badge is approximately 2 inches across, 2.5 inches in length. No remains of any lugs to rear for fixing.. Last edited by Minorca-Joel; 28-04-18 at 07:00 PM. Reason: Added reverse pic of badge and additional info |

A belt fitting of the British 13th Foot, who were in Minorca in the late 1700's?
Just a guess, it presumably relates to some nations "13th". Last edited by leigh kitchen; 28-04-18 at 08:10 AM. Reason: Forgot to type the "?". |

Hello, thank you.
Is there any images anywhere if anything similar? I can’t seem to find anything? I’ve never seen a British badge like this. But it does make total sense. Is this something that would have adorned British kit? Thank you for any info. All greatly received. |

Perhaps a cartouche box device?
Details of rear, type of fitting and size could all help GTB |

The reverse has no attachments or lugs left.
The badge measures approximately 2 inches wide, 2.5 inches in length. No other distinguishing marks that I can see... |

Reverse doesn’t have any remains of lugs for attachment I’m afraid. See pic. Hope this helps?! |
