Default Today is ANZAC Day 2021

Today is ANZAC Day 2021.

106 years since the ANZACs landed at Gallipoli on 25th April, 1915.

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget

Australian casualties.

Gallipoli — over almost 8 months.
26,111 casualties, including 8,141 deaths.

Fromelles — over 24 hours.
5,533 Australians became casualties. Almost 2,000 of them were killed in action or died of wounds and some 400 were captured.
The Australian toll at Fromelles was equivalent to the total Australian casualties in the Boer War, Korean War and Vietnam War put together.

Many who fought and died at Fromelles fought at Gallipoli.

It should be the main focus of ANZAC Day instead of Gallipoli.

ANZAC Day was commemorated at the Upwey/Belgrave RSL in the usual manner however with reduced numbers.

However at the Going down of the sun, and in the morning, we did remember them.

Lest We Forget.

Phil.
