Default Fake LRDG Group

Currently there is a LRDG group on the Regimentals website which is fake. The group comprises a portrait photo of a soldier wearing a black beret with LRDG badge, a pair of New Zealand cloth shoulder titles and a fake LRDG badge.

The photo is of Corporal Dugan a REME soldier who was attached to the LRDG. I have two photos of Dugan, two LRDG badges, Articifer badge, MID oak leaf and some paperwork. Unfortunately the Dugan portrait image was left up on the dealers website from whom I purchased the group, the image has been copied and framed along with fake LRDG badge and New Zealand titles.

I have contacted Regimentals about this but have been ignored.

Prospective buyers beware.

Keith

The lengths that some people will go to, very disappointing.

I saw this 3 or 4 years ago at Stoneleigh on a dealers table, and then I am sure I saw it appear on an auctioneers website just afterwards.
All the best and well done

Yes I contacted Regimentals about the group a few years ago, it then turned up in a C&T auction, but didn't sell (unsurprisingly), it was offered to a friend at this weeks War & Peace Show in Kent and the friend gave me the dealers details thinking I may be interested...

Nothing surprising at all here. I know I keep harping about this, but 99% of anything LRDG is fake. The only way to be absolutely sure is hard provenance in my opinion.

I contacted the seller when I spotted the fake group and suggested he return it to Regimentals, we corresponded and here is his latest message:

New message from: arnhemrobbie
Hi Keith,
I have since ended the item as Regimentals have confirmed this morning they’ll take it back.
Appreciate your expertise on this and taking the time to write.
Kind Regards
Rob

Is Regimentals on the forums unofficial 'be careful when buying from' list ? Seems that their name crops up quite often when discussing the selling of fake items.

I agree Mark, again a dealer with very very high prices. I have to say the knowledgeable people on this Forum are worth their weight in gold, with the amount of fake items turning up more often. Its good that members take their time to warn us.
