SEA KING and INTELLIGENCE on the same patch? Kind of an oxymoron.

Bill:
Nice couple of patches. The Sea King will be soldiering on for another few years yet before the cyclone takes over completely. There is also the requirement to change over the flight decks on the ships. Once they are changed over the new format will not allow the Sea King to use the hauldown and the trap. The old girl will fly on for a while yet. I flew the machine for 20 years and still know a few folks in the programme.
Cheers
Don

Thanks Don. I think there could be a theme in collecting Sea King related patches. They were a good machine in their heyday.

Nice patches, but what does INT have to do with sea kings? Does INT fly with the sea kings on missions, or is it a fly over recognition thing like Canada Customs/fisheries do?

The source of the image indicated the following: army uniformed air trained Int-op supporting maritime aviation, spring 2012- 2015 worn in 12 Wing Shearwater by 8 people, Wing authorized.

Guys:
The intelligence input is every bit as important to the Navy / Sea King world as it is to the combat arms or the air force. The Sea King (and the ship it brings along with it) are frequently the first Canadian Forces on the scene and often the last to leave. The Int input to establishing ROE for the theatre and even to the ability to lift off from the ship in certain zones plays big in every level of planning. Interesting to note that a ship rarely moves on an operation without a JAG input sailing with the ship or the task group as well. Just like life outside the military, can't go far without a legal opinion. Today it is easy to get shot down by a unit that is well beyond your radar range at low level.
