It doesn't look very military to me. More like something from 'Game of Thrones', which is very popular here.

Hi David, sorry I didn't reply earlier. It came from a pre ww2 collection of mainly British badges which had some quite rare badges in it, all were military as far as I could tell. This was one I didn't recognise and thought it may be Indo- China related. Mike

That thread has a fish or heraldic dolphin. This beast is a dragon. It has wings behind its head and may well be a chinese dragon.
I'll update that thread with a dolphin button from Chargeurs Réunis.
