How to take care of horse hair ploom?
Hello
We're lucky in our family to have my Great Grandfather's Officers Yorkshire Dragoons dress helmet, Albert helmet are they called?? My dad asked the other day how do you look after the horse hair ploom as it's looking a little worse for wear. Can anyone help please. Thank you for your time Chris |

Chris,
If you can do so without damaging the components, then strip it down and gently brush the dust from it with a soft brush and then wash it in warm slightly soapy (Use baby shampoo) water carefully getting it damp only and towel dry it. Should be OK, horse hair is pretty tough. regards
