An unusual item, I suppose you could call it a sweetheart token.
A block of plaster carved into a Black Watch badge by an untrained hand, initialed RB bottom right hand corner. There is a faded piece of paper it came with. Daisy Keir Inchysa Lodge Glencarse Perthshire. |

OSD pair of bronze collars with flat backs.
Churchill 1176. Looking at this image it seems I might have to buy a new scanner, so here's the camera shot. Last edited by rmarsden; 17-11-19 at 10:28 AM. |

Were the bronzed collars worn only by TA battalions?

It seems not, here is a young Charles Macdowell with collar badges, but I wonder if the photo was taken before he joined his battalion.
“He joined the Black Watch as a second lieutenant on the declaration of war. He served two years at the front with his battalion, was wounded twice, before being mortally wounded on April 8, while commanding his company.” Promoted to captain aged 18 after 2-years at the front, he was just turned 19 when he died. Footnote: I cannot find any other photos of WW1 Black Watch regular battalion officers wearing collar badges. Last edited by Toby Purcell; 13-12-19 at 12:14 PM. |

Hi Ron
I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread! I have this BW badge I acquired for a bottle of Bells about 10 years ago. Would it be possible please to date it, and would it have been made with the curves on it or would it have been originally flat? It's a solid back, heavy metal. Do you have one in your fantastic collection to compare? Thank you for your time Chris |

It is a Sgts bi-metal glengarry badge worn 1936-52. The back star is cast with curve and is original, I have two similar examples in my BW 36-52 thread nos 17 & 28 although the reverse differs. Ron. |
