Shanghai Light Horse
Hello All,
Comments welcome on this badge to the Shanghai Volunteer Corps Shanghai Light Horse. It has quite long lugs so I presume it is a hat badge. (It is same size as that in Renfrew's book, Fig.974). The group photo shows only the officers wearing collar badges which are possibly the same size. John |

Hi John,
Looks good, just like mine, Sorry I don't have a photo for you. Mine is thin silver no markings medium length lugs and toned, made by a shanghai jeweler of which I can't immediately recall . I didn't want to polish it and soften the detail. Clay |

Shanghai Light Horse
The cap badges and the collar badges were of the same size. The locally made ones were usually by HC (Hung Chong) a Shanghai Silversmith who made many of the local Shanghai badges.
I have attached a photo of the Shanghai Light Horse pouch plate and a photo of a selection of SVC buttons including the Shanghai Mounted Rangers and the Shanghai Light Horse (two on the bottom left) hkbuttonman |
