Train Locomotive badge from WW1 Hate Belt
This was one of the badges from an original period collected Canadian WW1 Hate Belt I recently acquired. The remainder of the badges were all Canadian and British with a few German Kokades etc. This one has me stumped, it is not Canadian that I am aware of, measures 22 mm tall by 35 mm long. Any thought would be welcome. I will be parting with it in the future.

Fixings
The fixings suggest an officers badge.

H8 belt
The design of engine reminds me of a Trench/ Light rail narrow gauge stock.

The fixings are the same for WW1 interpreters badges so it is likely to be worn on a sleeve.

Have found this photograph among a group of Imperial German postcards which were an unwanted part of an Auction lot and under a glass the Locomotive badge you have shown seems a very good match.
Apologies for the image quality but it's about the best I can get from an already poor photograph. Regards Simon. |

Hoot,
I didn't mean to infer that this was an exact match, just that it bore a very good resemblance to the one shown, I have to say that under a glass it is very similar, same amount of wheels and top furniture imho. The image I have here just isn't clear enough I'm afraid, apologies. Simon. |
