I will end this thread now with a ladies sash badge.
Glasgow Franchise Demonstration 1884, large die-struck white metal sash badge pin back with a purple felt liner. Measures 100mm x 48mm. The Arms of Glasgow within an elongated strap topped with the cypher 'GLA' (Glasgow Liberal Association). The badge relates to a major demonstration on Sept 6th 1884 in support of expanding the rights to vote to a greater percentage of citizens both men and women. An estimated 50,000 marched in the demonstration as part of a country-wide wave of action demanding sufferage or the Franchise for All!
Glasgow coat of Arms, St Mungo with The tree that never grew.
The bird that never flew.
The fish that never swam.
The bell that never rang.

Beautiful items. You must have one of the top collections in this field- do you know of many other collections of this standard? I have heard of nursing buckles as a collecting interest but this has been new to me. Well done. Regards, Paul.

Anglo Indian buckle in unmarked silver, repouss'e work with pierced and chased decoration. The depth of the repouss'e a full 15mm. A pair of displaying peacocks on a background of pierced foliage. In Hinduism peacocks are associated with Lakshmi and represent patience kindness and compassion. The brown gunk is old polish residue since taking these photos I have cleaned the buckle will post new pics soon.

Here is the cleaned up version, a five minute soak in methlyated spirits then a soft toothbrush with fairy liquid. Its not completely clean but I did not want a stripped look.

Bryan, this is the Canadian buckle I mentioned and managed to find.
It belonged to the daughter of a rifle volunteer from Winnipeg who used to compete at Wimbledon, I have a picture somewhere taken in the 1890s. This buckle dates around 1910. Gilt brass and enamels.

Hi Ron,

I have really enjoyed this thread. Beautiful things are always a true joy and you have amassed an astonishing collection.

This recent example is my favorite! No reason, just something about the design.

Truly well done Ron and thanks so much for sharing these stunners.

Cheerio,

Roy.
