The choice is between money or history, I would choose that latter every time.
An incredible item indeed. Roy.

I think Roy has summed it up, once split up these badges will have lost their heritage. I have regetted in the past splitting things up and refrain from it these days. Rob |

Hi Steve
For what it's worth I'm with the others, leave it as it is. Once taken apart and dispersed it can never be put back again and another little bit of history will be lost forever. Roger |

Steve,
If you are a collector, leave it as it is. If you are a dealer, strip it down and sell them all. It cost nearly £1000 at auction yesterday so the owner needs to get his money back. regards

When I first started collecting I was given something similar although not quite in the same league. There were quite a few duplicate badges and I cut it up and kept an example of each for my collection. I swapped the duplicates for badges I didn't already have. It did add to my collection but I regret doing it now, If I had the chance again I would leave it intact.
I'm strictly a collector though and, as Simon intimates above, I think realistically most dealers would be tempted to sell the badges individually, simply because they are more likely to look at it from a monetary rather than historical perspective. If it was mine, though, I would definately leave as is! David |

Is this the one that has been doing the rounds through various auction rooms over the last few years?
If so, someone must have doubts about it. If not, please excuse my suspicious nature. |

Yes, I think this cape has made the rounds over the last few years.

HI Chaps
The last 2 capes that have come on to the market where purchased by Robin who has striped them both down and sold the badges on ebay to my knowledge this example is fresh to the market place . when I looked at this example yesterday the badges where all original I will see my friend next week and get some pics of the badges on it and show them on the forum . Steve PS If you know for sure its been about let me know when and where its quite distinct with the fading strips

FYI, the BCD patch is the British Columbia Dragoons, 5 Canadian Armoured Division formation sign.
