Default Unknown badge cap

Hello everyone

I saw this badge cap that I was presented as a badge of the medical service of the R.F.C. ??........What do you think about? I do not find it in Cox's book or in K & K.

Bonne journée.

Jean-Paul

KK volume 2 - page 90 and 93. Royal Army Medical Corps. KK1007

I believe, but what it has to do with RFC I have no idea, it could be that the badge belonged to a soldier attached as a medical orderly. I am sure others on the site will help with further information.

Regards

Steve

Thank you Steve for this rapid answer.
I am a French collector for the Commonwealth 1914-18 in the "Pas de Calais & Somme" and I do not have volume 2 of K & K. This explains that.

I think you second badge should be on lugs as a collar.

2nd badge is RAF Medical Services authorised Oct 1918. Worn as collar badges I believe.

Second badge is a fake copy of a 1920 RAF medical corps collar badge. As Magpie says, it should have lugs and a voided crown.

Jean-Paul

I think your 'cap badge' could be a doctored RAF Medical Services Collar badge. If you go to www.britairforce.com/raf_trade you will see the badge but it is clearly identified as a collar badge. I suspect that as a collar badge it would have lugs (loops) rather than a slider.

There is also a similar badge on e-bay described as RAF Medical Branch but this has lugs(loops).

I would have a very good look at the rear of the badge to see if it once had lugs and maybe has been changed.

I hope someone else can give more positive advice but to me this badge is suspect..... I may of course be wrong as I am new to collecting but I can not find positive identification of this badge with slider anywhere.

Regards Steve

et bon jour ami (hope my schoolboy French is good....)

Re bonjour.

Here are more pictures of this curious cap badge.
It looks like it was cast ... There are no traces of lugs

I don't think real ones are that easy to find and most are fake.
