Ok so all those pictures are of fake ones of the Brass they wore in 1942? Comparative Examples of original WWII 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion Cap Badge and Reproduction (Images courtesy of canadiansoldiers.com, Bill Alexander and Michael A. Dorosh, CD.) Figure 1 - The badge is a genuine WWII 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion (introduced in 1942) This badge is well worn and you can clearly see the edge of the wings on the Upright rounded of from wear. This is all Brass the picture is of, looks like your fake one??? Ripples on the Back of the chute, and the Dent on the Parachute top Ripple++. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...=STRK:MEWAX:IT Last edited by Recce; 27-10-10 at 01:59 PM. |

Thanks for sharing very nice examples indeed. White Letters then Goldish Of 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion,
seen many but only of the white. The White was First then they switched to the Goldish Letters? Or what's the Scoop on the Colour change? My question is concerning the Green Patch I was vigorously told this is also WWII Last edited by Recce; 31-10-10 at 12:35 AM. |

Gold lettering - 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion shoulder title
"It is not known why these shoulder titles were available in both white and yellow/gold lettering"
Ken Joyce: Into the Maelstrom - The 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion - History-Insignia-Uniforms ISBN 978-1-894581-39-4 One theory that has been discussed is that the gold lettering was intended to be representative of the battalion's distinction within the 6th Airborne Division, much like the gold identification strip worn at the end of the epaulette. This strip was worn to differentiate the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion from other battalions within the Division. Recce Your title looks good to me. WWII era. The Airborne Canada shoulder title was authorized for wear by personnel permanently attached to either the battalion or school, in April 1943. There is a common misconception out there that this early title was only worn during training. Though uncommon, some members of the battalion continued to wear this title overseas.
