Help To Identify Officer Wire Embroidered Mess Dress Collars Badges Please

I am thinking these are a pair of Royal Regiment of Wales Officer Mess Dress wire embroidered collar badges, but I’m not sure.

Both look old but any thoughts on age, regiment and what dress would be most welcome please.

Size: 38mm x 35mm and one is fitted with a brass fitting plate.
