Default AAC badge without KC?

Good afternoon,

Today this AAC badge without KC fell on my doormat with some other badges.
I would like to know if anyone of the forum members has seen this modification before?

Marinus

I don't think its a modification, i reckon it's just been damaged/snapped off.

French Airborne troops in WW2 would snap off the crown on the British Parachute badge, I wonder if this has any relation.

That would be quite some accidental snap!

It’s been intentionally done/modified. As taker Mike mentions I think I’ve heard about AACs getting the same treatment as Para badges re crown removal.

Issue with all these being it’s so easy to cut a crown off then ‘‘honest guv it’s French Airborne, that’ll be £150 please’’.

A simple and easy way for the unscrupulous to transform a £20-30 badges to ask a three figure sum.

I have seen a plastic AAC cap badge for sale very recently.
Also with crown removed. Similar spurious description "French" use !

Default AAC badge without KC

Gents,

Thank you all for your comments.
It's another one for my box of shame, I think.

Airtrooper, I've seen that plastic badge too but I can't remember where.

Regards and keep safe,

Marinus

The ‘?’ box rather than the dreaded box of shame I’d suggest.

The opinions expressed here are just opinions, the badge is genuine so it is most certainly worthy of further research rather than a hasty decision.

Records, units histories and war diaries along with period photos are all worth searching out.
