Default 1988 Olympic Patch

Good Morning Gentlemen.....

With the Olympics on right now I thought I would post a picture of the badge worn by the Cadet Services of Canada and their officers for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games here in Calgary.....

The cadets of all three services were each given a Parka with the patch on each shoulder and at the end of the games they were allowed to keep them.....

They were involved in all forms of flag raising, at the Olympic residence, at the main square, at the opening ceremonies and at the medal presentations......

They also provided the escort for the medals when they were being presented.....

Each cadet / officer who was at the Opening Ceremonies also rec'd a medallion, and all officers rec'd a Team Calgary Medallion.....

There were only enough badges made for the parkas and 2 for each officer, and yes they would not allow the officers to wear them, a total of 750.......

A bit of a side track... I was there in Calgary in 1988 and fluked into a set of tickets for the woman's final figure skating... It was when Elizabeth Manley came out of the pack and took Silver for Canada... The crowd went wild and it was one of the best sporting events I've ever been at...

Hi Jim......

As a civilian I was working for the Feds in the Olympic Office and had dozens of tickets in my desk..... I used to walk down 8th Avenue Mall just giving them out for free to anyone who wanted the......

The only one I had trouble giving away was the France / Finland Hockey game...... LOL....... Finland walked all over France.....

Then at night work with the Cadets......

Default 2010 Olympics

I was able to volunteer for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and was selected to be on the ice crew, responsible for cleaning and preping the ice for the mens and some of the women's games. I got to work the women's final and the men's final to see Canada get gold.

I was seated behind the American goal when Sid the Kid potted the winning goal in overtime, such a thrill.

According to my records that is about $100.00 cheaper than the last one sold on ebay and it and this one looks used.....

Mine even though we were given them we could not wear them as officers......
