Ta, I'd not heard of Bassingbourn reopening as an ATR though as I no longer drive past it on a regular basis I'd lost track of the place "post Libyans".

Sean,

Yes R8 is probably The Rifles. Bright colours can be seen as black on rifle green could not!

D is possibly "Discharge" platoon or holding for back squadding?

Thanks Tim that's interesting, I have also managed to get two Prince of Wales Slides and spotted some in the Gurkha Company wearing a plain all red slide on a Facebook post by the Army showing recruits getting their postings.......more to watch out for!!
