I managed a NATO and an EU (Althea) tour of duty, but missed my Regiments one and only 82 UN (Cyprus) tour and have always been fed up about that.

The Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) is not a UN organisation.

Yes, that's understood.

I find that MFO insignia items get lumped in with 'UN' Deployements in badge collections and in collecting conversations (including my own), as a matter of informality and convenience. It's imprecise and incorrect, however Peackeeping deployments of all kinds, tend to be under-studied and under-appreciated... so any positive interest in the history of those operations is welcome (in my view)... especially given that there seems to be plenty of detractors about Peacekeeping Operations generally.

Yours in militaria research and writing

The embroidered flag (if that's what it is) looks nice. Love UN stuff.
