Chrome or Nickel plated buttons
I bought these in a job lot last year, I forget what else was in the lot but these two are rather odd in being plated in a white metal, the RMA does have more of a goldish tinge than the RE but it could just be a thinner layer of plating?
Is there any justifiable reason for either to have been WM in there own periods, in which case its coincidence that they ended up together? Or does the fact that they are together prove they were plated much more recently for another reason? The RE is 24mm, the RMA 18mm. All thoughts welcome. Rob |

Gaylor said that RE badges were chromed for wear by bandsmen. Could the chroming have extended to their buttons and shoulder titles?
With anything chromed the possibility usually suggested is "regimental police" or WWII RAC units badged to their old regiments. |
