Default Anyone know this badge?

I have this small badge, bought some time ago, but I can't remember exactly what it is. Can someone remind me?

It says '22nd Dec. 1944 - S. A. Gifts & Comforts'. Exactly what was it worn for, what does the date relate to, and who is the person?

Thanks

I'm sure the lady is the wife of FM Jan Smuts (South Africa). Mike.

Mike

That's brilliant, thank you.

I looked her up and found this, which answers my query.

Haven't found anything to explain the significance of the date yet.

Cheers
