Default Isles of Scilly

Anyone know what this is ? I would assume the cadets would have an affiliation to the Cornwall Light Infantry ? I know there was a Home Guard unit - but I can't find any record of insignia worn . Nor can I find any record of a Militia unit. Nice badge though.

This is an incredible collection being sold by this seller. It's a new one on me too, I can see it going extremely high. I presume the PoW's feathers are something to do with the Duchy of Cornwall?

Everything he sells goes for mad prices, they get bid on the moment they're listed.

Please don't link to live auctions as it only upsets other members and if you want to find out more before bidding then please do your own research or wait until it has ended. This site is ghosted by a number of dealers (who add little) and they really don't need assistance in finding items such as this one to snipe.

I agree with Alan.

It’s a bit different when highlighting an auction already at a crazy price. Last night this badge was £28.

I take Keith’s point that a lot of that sellers items are gems and sell well but a few do go at good prices such at the Tower Hamlets other ranks shako the other day. No chance for this one now I suspect.

Its interesting to see that everyone's assuming that the badge is military. It may not be! Between 5th May 1942 and 1st April 1947, the Isles of Scilly had its own police force. No one has ever seen their badge...... Its always important to think outside the box when considering these unidentified badges.

Dave.

Damn, I hope it’s one I already have as I never saw that. Actually I hadn’t noticed any of his listings since Xmas.

I didn't assume it was military, as I said - don't know what it is.

I didn’t think police badges had sliders?

Notwithstanding the badge is certainly of earlier manufacture than WW2 in my belief. The slider and bronzing are much more stereotypical of WW1 era.

As you say good not to assume it could be the Isle of Scilly Girl Guides!
