Default Infantry Volunteer Battalion Glengarries

I have just attempted to upload my first album (two pages of glengarries). I am always looking to add to my collection and would be delighted to hear from any member with volunteer glengarry badges to sell or exchange. Many thanks.

Thank you Keith. I am hoping to compile a list of known VB Glengarries. I have been trawling through Bosley catalogues in the hope of identifying known glengarry badges. I would also like to hear from Forum members. For example I know that all three South Staffs and both North Staffords VB's wore the standard
glengarry badge.

I love WM glengarries.

However, the Manchester Regiment glengarry with no VB designation is for the Militia Battalions and not a VB.

regards

Many thanks Simon. I could not resist including the militia glengarries in the hope that someone would say "Ah yes, the Dorset glengarry was also worn by the Dorset VB."

Well I hope someone does to be honest, because a lot of badges of that era are mis identified in books from 50 years ago and their ID has been accepted from then onwards.

With specific regards to the Manchester Regiment I can only identify WM, QVC glengarry badges to the following Volunteer Battalions and all have the VB number on the strap.

2 VB
3VB
5VB (Blackened)
6VB

So as far as I am aware without seeing the 1VB or 4VB glengarry badges the one with no number on the strap could in fact be one of those two. It would not surprise me at all.

regards

A variety of York and Lancaster VB Glengarry badges can be found here, just click on the drop down bar for Glengarry Badges.

Default Essex VBs

A listing of the known examples for the four Essex VBs (with illustrations of some) can be found on my site here:

https://www.essexmilitarybadges.uk/infantry/

There are also some images in my forum album.

If you know of any others not listed I'd be very interested to hear about them.
