Finally, I do not understand why this is written "WSULLY LTD MONTREAL" without the C of Scully... many thanks! O

Hi mufasa, The top post shows a badge with a BIRKS mark.
There are repros being put out in the bright brass, but I don't think your second badge is a repro. It is a nice crisp striking with clear detail. The restrikes do not have this sharpness.

Best anyone can say is that it was wartime, they grabbed whatever was handy for marking dies, assuming they even marked them, and it seems 'attention to detail' wasn't a high priority with marking. You'll see SULLY, as well as mirror image (reverse reading) markings on several Canadian badges.

Oriano,
I also have the "SULLY" marked BCD badge as part of my SWW Cdn Armd Corps collection and have always thought of it as a 'good' badge, just error marked. One thing you don't mention, though I think apparent, even in your photo, is that it is not a yellow Brass badge. If exactly like mine, it is a Copper badge. Mine was heavily browned when purchased, either by design or by age. It's also heavier and thicker than a regular BCD brass badge. I've always thought of it as an Officer's Service Dress badge.
