Default Special Boat Service

Hello Chaps
Can anybody please venture an opinion on validity of this badge. Has the marking F & S on the back. I was told it is for Fattorini and Son but is it possible it could be Firmin and Son? Thanks in Advance.

Cheers Paul

Hi Paul, I also think it is a Firmin mark and that it is a collar badge to the SBS. I'm sure there is some info. on these if you are able to search this forum.

Collar badge, non-mess uniform (mess uniform is in silver plate IIRC), "New" style SBS issue, but not the latest. Latest will have clutch fittings for FAD.

The badge on the far left that Marc posted is worn on the green beret.

Paul

It is a Firmin & Sons collar badge for the Lovat uniform, The SBS do not wear FAD, they wear Lovats so lugs are the current issue and not clutch pins. I have attached pictures of a pair still in their original Firmin packaging and without their packaging.

All future badges will have clutch pins afaik... on lovats or not. I do however realise my mistake, I have a few booty mates who would rib me for that. I am sure I;ve seen new navy badges with clutch pins.
