Dave, your badge is that of Tactical Air Traffic Control, not dissimilar to the winged crook badge of Tactical Operations. Both come under 1ACC with 90 Signals Unit as their supporting unit looking after Navigational aids etc.
Tac ATC initially set up the landing area, once established Tac Ops take over.

No Terry, it's the right way up. It's supposed to be a shepherds crook - as in shepherding aircraft.
