SA Artillery badge date
All,
I have this badge, but cannot seem to find reference to the type of scroll on the bottom and cannot date it. The scroll is separately attached, which is strange to me. Any help appreciated! Thanks, CB |

Most of the S.A. Members may be asleep at this time and could probably give you more of an answer. I have one of those and have it listed in “Owen’s “ book as No. 826, in use from 1922 to 1926. Mine does not appear to have a separate bottom scroll. Could yours have been a made up badge from a British Territorial badge? Good Luck in your hunting! David J.

Hi CB
I have a couple of these and I think one also has a scroll like that. I'll check later. Looks fine to me. Cheers, Alex |

Here is how it was attached. A normal British badge has four attachment points and there absolutely no evidence wherein a scroll was removed to be used for this.

Hello CB, Something kept nagging at me about my previous post so I decided to take my badge out of the display case and now it seems I was wrong! Mine too has the added bottom scroll, affixed the same as yours! See pics.

I might have a spare but am away for the next couple of months. If you remind me mid July I should be back and will have a look. You could also try forum member Natal01, he might have one.
Cheers, Alex |
