Default Silver Cambridgeshire

I have never seen a silver Cambridgeshire Regt badge like this, has it been chromed as the slider is the same colour?

What’s it made of? Is it anodised?

Well, there is no mention of plating, or of the metal that it's made of, it is simply described as

The Cambridgeshire Regiment - Officers Silvered Cap Badge.

Rare Slidered Officers Cap Badge - J.R. Gaunt London

The same people have a silver QVC Suffolk badge that's been converted into a belt buckle, this I have looked at many times. I have discovered that silver Suffolk badges are scarcer than rocking

horse poop, and I have seriously considered converting this belt buckle back into a badge. I should perhaps add that I am a fairly competent silver solderer, I just don't know where I would find

suitable silver lugs.

It certainly looks to be a silver anodized aluminium badge to me. It's not an officer quality badge at all.

Although it look as Hoot says like a one piece anodised badge it's gone a bit dark on the reverse so could be silver plated.

How interesting.

I agree from the back the tarnish does look akin to silver plate. Officers badges are very occasionally found on sliders. The mark of course is 1950s at the earliest. A very unusual badge but interesting, personally I wouldn’t doubt its authenticity.

A fascinating curio I’d imagine for an ardent Cambs collector.

Many thanks for your thoughts on this badge, chaps, generally positive, methinks, so I have also added this one to the Cambs collection, I will post a few better pictures when it arrives.

Question is, did the Cambs officers wear silver cap badges in the 1950s?

Well, I'm just guessing here, but it seems that an all white metal Cambs cap

badge was sealed on 24th October 1952. I assume that this was to be worn by

ORs, was there a higher quality version ( silver / silverplate ) for officers?

I was just about to say that, a WM badge was sealed in the 1950s which is very scarce (attached). It would not be a big stretch to imagine that officers version would be silver or SP.

Colin Churchill mentions a silver plated collar badge, sealed 8th May 1957 under Authority 54/Officers/4051, so it would seem likely there would be a matching cap badge?
