i just buy this for a very little price 8€.....

for me genuine, fakes ???? half and half .... ... no voided..!!! for me it's no good, but i had never see a genuine helmet plate center .....

what did you think about this ....i think KK 356

Unfortunately a well known fake. It pretends to be another ranks glengarry badge. It should be voided.

I have an example of the other rank's helmet plate c. 1890 - 1903, (this is the example with the wide harp). I shall try to get some time over the next few days to photo and upload it.

Jourdain in his two volume history of the regiment has several pages of badge illustrations and gives the above dates for the wide harp HPC. The earlier narrow version being 1881 - 1890.

he also illustrates the glengarry badges which I shall try to scan and upload for you.

The rule of thumb for British infantry glengarry badges is that they should be lugged North-South and NOT east-west. But even if you find one lugged NS it still isn't necessarily genuine.

The O/R Helmet plate c. 1890 - 1903 with the wide harp. Note that the black cloth is not original, it is modern felt added to replicate the black cloth originally worn.

Note that the earlier narrow harp HPC is faked, watch the "taxi drivers" listings on e-bay to see what it looks like from the front.
