Here is a badge I've had for a long time. french inscription, "Sapeurs Pompiers Saverou Perir...Jean pitt maybe you can tell me what it means, The two axes may signify a firemans badge the word Sapeurs could be engineers? The reverse shows a pin and a button hole flap. Ray

From the wording it must be a French fireman's badge, but exactly what time period Jeanpit would have a better idea, n'est pas?

sorry i can only help a little ....
each town in france had is own fireman....usually the name of the town is on the badge.... only 2 corps of military firemen ,sapeur pompier de PARIS and marin pompiers de MARSEILLE, all the ohter are civilian.... |

Thank you Jeanpitt and you David, I believe fireman is right & more than likely civilian. Now can you translate that into english,word for word whether it makes sense or not. Ray
