Yeomanry 'Y' titles

Note that the 'Y' in my RHA title is sans serif, unlike Marc's example.

Thanks to all contributors- some very useful info, keep it coming.
Has anyone info as to when the Y was withdrawn, if it was before 1940?
I know the TA was consulted about its re-introduction post-1947 but the idea was rejected.

Next thought: has anyone seen separate bronze OSD 'Y' letters? They existed as 'T' for officers' collar badges but were they ever adopted for those Yeomanry regiments along the lines of the PVCN 1926?

When this thread started I was already bidding on a brass letter "Y" on Ebay. I was successful and it has just arrived in the post. It is actually taller than I expected it to be.

I bought the letter because I thought it might be a part of a three part, three tier T/Y/" Name of County", title but I am now not so sure.

Anyone any ideas ?

Although looking at it again it looks more like the last letter, as the end (right side as viewed) is smaller than the other.

My Grandfather was in the City of London Yeomanry and we have brass shoulder titles with a T above a Y with RHA under. He joined the regiment just prior to WW11.
