Wellington arms button- military or civil/livery
I present this button for your guidance, please.
I believe this button to bear the arms of the Duke of Wellington. I am wondering if it is worn for a military or civil/livery use? Oh, and what time frame, if possible. The button is 26 mm diameter, gilt with spun back, maker marked "PITT & CO. 31.MADDOX ST.LONDON.W. with kindest regards, Tim |

Hi Tim, going by the crown on the button, I suspect circa 1896 to 1902 and most likely military, but it doesn't look like the West Riding Regiment, although, it is similar to a general service button.
Possibly a cadet button? Hopefully someone can shed more information. |

I think it is a livery button.

Thank you, btns. I think that are right, and will put the "Iron Duke" among my livery buttons. I do fear, however, that he may cause angst and havoc among the more genteel of them. (Do them a world of good, I say!)
with kindest regards, Tim |
