Default Unusual tank badge

I have never seen this tank badge before, looks like its on the bus driver jacket. Its from a 1970's Cdn Armour newsletter.

The radio is the AN/PRC 515.

It's for personnel posted to the Armoured School. It was not supposed to be worn after unification, but a great photo of what is suppose to be isn't always what is. (And for those people not familiar with "bus driver jacket"- the CF Work Dress jacket.)

I believe that rank with the maple leaf above it is master sergeant.

Default Sgt Rank

The three stripes with maple leaf was the rank of Sergeant at unifcation in 1968 and remains so.

So it must be Master Corporal with the maple leaf. My misunderstanding. CFB Lahr was a long time ago.

Yup, soft but well-cut and smoothed.

I see that mine have a barrel support in the design though.

These were unofficial badges, likely locally made.

Interesting the Centurion was chosen, the Leopard was in use by then. Throw back to back in the day I guess.

The badge was in use much earlier than 1970. It was while the Centurion was still in Canadian service.

Leopard didn't come into service until about 1977.
