York & Lancs Regt badges
Hi all,
Just joined and interested in Yorkshire Regiments. I’m trying to find out info on the cap and collar badges of the 3rd Militia Battalion of the York and Lancs regt. Were the badges in white metal rather than the bi-metal of the regular battalions? Can anyone shed any light on this, Please? Regards Steve |

Hello Steve and welcome to the forum.
Yes, as a militia the collar badges were white metal. Please see attached pictures (from the Y&L museum). Ivan |

York & Lancs badges
Many thanks Peter and Ivan for the info and photos they have been most enlightening and informative.
If I can just add a question regarding the KOYLI cap badge, did they change to the all white metal badge before or after the second world war? I have a book - Regimental badges and service caps (1941) which shows the KOYLI badge as bi-metal but I have seen a book - cap badges of the British Army 1939-1945 which shows the badge to be white metal.
