Default Identify uniform

Can anyone please help identify the unit, unform or both. Athol Eben Owen Beckley. Served in North Africa and was at the Liberation of Italy.
Thanks in advance.
Tony

Just a few thoughts put out there. Standard pattern battledress with appears to be a collar badge. Pyramids in the background so obviously taken in Egypt and probably pre 1943. Wearing a beret with roundish light colour badge. I would hazard a guess at South African Tank Corps.

Steven is probably right but any chance of a close up / zoom in of the head and shoulders?
Thanks. Cheers,
Alex

Have attached an image of an 6th Armoured Div bunny jacket I have for interest. It belonged to a bloke from the 3rd Bn Transvaal Scottish and he saw service In both North Africa and in Italy.

What colour is the beret? It's a bit difficult to see for sure on the image. If it's black, then probably SA Tank Corps. If it's khaki it could also be SA Engineer Corps.

The uniform appears to be Battle Dress with khaki web anklets. Issued to SA troops "up north" from about 1941 onwards.

IIRC the black berets were worn by the tank corps from about 1940 and other arms only started wearing them in khaki a few years later.

Default Uniform head & shoulders

Thanks all for your input. Unfortunately it's a pretty bad photo. Can't tell the coolur of the headgear. I don't know if it helps but I think I detect a lanyard on the right shoulder?
