Default Desptach Rider with Blue thread

I missed this one on ebay.

But can anyone tell me who would have worn a badge with blue on a khaki background?

Rob

The Rhodesian army used this pattern of winged wheel badge right up to 1980. Their versions were in white embroidered on tartan green (as per attached image for Driver / Maintenance) and white embroidered on olive green for the camouflage uniform.

There are very good reproductions of these now on the market for Living History participants, but quite who wore the blue on Khaki is questionable. I am still waiting to see a war-time photograph of one in use. The horizontal wing pattern is not uncommon but not the upswept wing version.

I would like to see a genuine WW1 pattern as well if anyone has one.

Here is my WW1 pattern. I'm still not sure if the winged wheel style may have been late WW1 period too?
