This badge came up again in the early hours as a buy it now so I've bought it. I'm hoping it was just buying from the US that put people off- looks fine to me. Hopefully it should avoid import tax problems as value under £15. Postage a bit steep though, doubled the price. Regards, Paul.

I bought this from the same seller which arrived very quickly and without customs charges. Whilst the P&P isn’t the cheapest it is tracked and I think reasonable.
The reason I like this badge so much is it’s from the same die which often as the flaw above and below the first E of QUEEN’S. As you can see there is no flaw above and only a very slight one forming at the bottom of the E meaning it is an earlier strike. I have seen OSD badges made from this die and don’t wonder if given B&P submitted a tender for the 1916 all GM issues it is their die which they tried using for all GM strikes rather than die casting OSDs and in the striking process it was damaged and the flaw began. Sadly Bent & Parker don’t seem to have often marked their OSDs so we will likely never know. The slider has a slight crimp too which hasn’t come out in the pic, but for a fiver I’m happy! |
